Year 3 - Project 1: VisCom Poster - Diamond

Diamond for poster design.
Draw.

Then Vectorise.

Year 3 - Project 1: VisCom Poster - Work In Progress

Back to uni for my 3rd year of Visual Communication.
The first project out of the bag is to create an A3 poster which promotes VisCom to prospective students whilst delivering both my own take on the course and also presenting my specialism. Obviously illustration is my specialism so the only thing left to do was come up with my take on the course. After some thinking I came up with "Difficult But Ultimately Rewarding." To me that pretty much sums it up. Here's what I'm working on.

Musk Oxen. Ox's are stubborn and therefore represent difficulty.

Vector Musk Oxen.

With a side order of diamonds to represent the reward.

More to follow.

January 28th 2011: Diamonds And Guns - Pin Up

Finally got around to doing something. Painting is good. Pin up with some tattoos, piercings and shaved head and stuff. Pretty happy with this although the left hand is a bit too small but it's not so easy to see. Loving the filligree pattern and little icons of the background. The guns pretty sweet as well. This is the first time I've done anything largeish in ages. It's been enjoyable. More to come I think.

Here's a close up of the facial/gun area, also with the best tattoo bit and showing the background more. The crop looks pretty good to be honest. Better composition.

December 16th 2010: Always Looking Blue

Not so sure about this one. I like the little bit of blue in there, I think that works really well, as does having a little bit of a lighter grey as well. Gives it a couple of mid-tones which I think makes it a more rounded image (maybe) but I messed up the hat, and also I went a little bit mental on the shadow. Dial it back a bit and I think I've pretty much got it. We'll see next time. Finished another sketchbook. Gonna have to go out and get a new one tommorow to finish up my 2010 session. Also I really like the lips styles on these last two. When you get the white lines and the fill right then they look ace.

November 22nd 2010: Drop The Anchor

A mix up of all different kinds of interesting things and that. Like it. Piece an image together slowly out of individual silly bits of drawing and I enjoy it. More to come.
