Thank You! Finalisation

So hand in for the first unit is tommorow so I'm just getting everything ready. This meant doing a few bits here and there, mostly presentational stuff. Heres the final illustration for the 'Thank You' project. I went with quite a loose illustration style because, to be honest, i'm not great at drawing cars, so I thought i'd leave out the detail in this situation. Got the skid marks in there which were missing from the previous plan.

Presentation board layout with additional pieces for clarity.

Enormous Gun

So this goes with The Great Red Shark from the other day.
Hunter S Thompson was a huge gun fanatic so basically, the concept follows from before, extending ideas from his writing, i.e. exaggeration & extension, hence the enormous gun. Would have a normal sized handle & trigger so it could be fired.

Inscription that will be engraved down the barrel. My favourite quote from his work & quite fitting I feel. He lived his life by this ethos. I like to draw curly letters.

Bits down the side, the first shows a close up of the handle with the inscription 'HST 1937 - 2005'. The second square shows an idea for the shells, moulded into gonzo fists with different quotes on them. Also here you can see the difference in size between the handle & the rest of the gun.

The Great Red Shark

Pretty dodgy draw for uni brief. Crossing a Chevrolet Impala & shark in order to create a literal representation of the frequently used HST metaphor. Vrum Vrum. The idea is to create an instalation to say thank you to Hunter S Thompson. This was the car so often referred to in his work as 'The Great Red Shark'... get why I did this now? Anyway, the mix is inspired by my love of his descriptive language & extension of reality in his work so thats what I tried to do here.

Bits down the side. I had some difficulty with the picture, no matter what I did it wouldn't rotate. The first square is the front of the car, drawn badly. The second shows the steering wheel with the inscription in the centre: 'Hunter S. Thompson 1937 - 2005'.

First Day back to Uni

Second year is going to be HEAVY. No doubt. 75 minutes into the first day we've already got 3 briefs and the first crit is next week... harsh. Anyway, the first project is 'Thank you!' saying thank you to someone who has inspired you or changed your life or something... I've chosen Hunter Thompson because he is a Winner. And also because nobody in my group seems to know who he is.

And now just because I hate posting anything without a picture:
