The Butcher - Complete
After ages of fussing and faffing with colours and different fills and such, I decided to just cut the crap, keep it simple, 2 colour print on white. Gonna screen this, then I'll post the outcome.

Eye Collector
Last month I got my work featured in another creatives blog. This one was quite special for me because, although they didn't write much about my work, for once it was the blog organisers who found my work and requested that I feature and not me asking them. Pretty nice validation. You can find it at:

Raised By Foxes
So i've been absent from my blog for a little while now, partly due to being on holiday and partly due to a total burnout of inspiration and motivation. But we're getting back on track now. A new business/art undertaking is in preliminary stages. Here's a sneak peek.

EMP Poster 1: Big Trouble In Little China - The Guardian
Sees All, Knows All.
The Guardian.
Squishy ball man with an eyeball in his mouth and tubes and things. Looking at this now the eye in the mouth needs sorting out but it's being fiddly and I can't make it work.

Honour Over Glory - The Return To Blogging
So I've been absent for a little while what with going to America for 3 weeks, not having the internet, going to a festival and generally being lazy. Small piece of advice though - if you don't currently have a phoneline connected, do NOT sign up with talktalk, no matter how cheap it looks, it took nearly 6 weeks to get a phoneline that actually works put in. Ridiculous. Anyway. Now that I have the internet I can post pictures again.
Gypsy Girl as standard. Where would I be without them. The 'Honour Over Glory' comes from this clothing brand that were selling merch at the festival I went to. I liked the name so I stole it. Acrylic, pen, ink & cut out paper on paper.

In The Land Of The Blind, The One Eyed Man Is King
Last February I drew this tattoo design for a friend & he got it done about a month or so later.
Since then he's been hassling me to draw him up something else. But never gave me any ideas so I didn't draw anything up. Couple of days ago he says: "hey, draw me up a tattoo." As per usual I ask him what and expect no ideas. "I like that last thing you drew on your blog." And since I already wanted to redraw it I got onto it.
Drew this up. Got the eyeball & bones from the last picture. The hourglass is 100 times better, time & effort were taken on this one. The runes spell out "In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king". Added in some weird markings to fill in the circle.
Edit: spun the image through about 30degrees.
Rotate the eye back to the right way up.
Made the hourglass bigger.
How they fit together.

Design And Art Direction Awards Not Quite Final Piece
So here's the half of the video that Eddy Mac and I got finished before we succumbed to illness and had to drop out of the running. We're both really disappointed we didn't get to see this one through because on watching this back just now we we're both really pleased with the outcome. If we'd had more time there would have been some additional footage on the third screen section and ideally the same process completed for a second song.
I think that the succession of food being hit with the hammer is a really effective portrayal of the notes and makes for interesting watching, especially with the changing of speeds that comes with the chorus and the faster sections of the song it creates various lengths of clip which give a different effect. I think that the middle section is also very effective as the speed of the movement juxtaposes with the slowness of the third screen. I think that the 3 different speeds across 3 different screens works really well and the addition of some stop frame work on the third screen would have brought in an extra element to the video which would have completed the set.

D&AD Diesel Illustration Brief: The End
So the deadline for D&AD is tommorow and due to Ed having an operation on his shoulder and then me getting ill and spending near enough a week in bed we've had to pull the plug and admit defeat. If only we were immune to mortal ailments. Above is a little glimpse of what we spent out time doing, although only a fraction. There was also a lot of hitting food with hammers and filming it, dropping eggs and things. This Diesel Logo is made with ketchup, flour and mayonaise and it was pretty large as you can see. That was fun. We nearly had one video of fruit smashing fun finished before befalling our bad luck spree. Maybe we'll get it finished and I can post it.

D&AD Diesel Illustration/Be Stupid
So today was super-productive. 2 shopping trips, an undisclosed number of pounds, a few doughnuts, a pasty, and 6 and a half hours later the D&AD Diesel Illustration brief has moved from planning stages, through production and we're now into post-production. I really wish I could talk about this project fully, but since I've been getting so many hits on my blog just from posts that talk vaguely about D&AD I'm pretty sure someone would steal the idea. So you and I will just have to wait. It's been a good day.
