September 6th 2010: Floating Face Redhead

I've been working on this for a while, due to the fact that it's oil paint on canvas and so takes forver to dry. Plus I've never actually used oil paints before so it's been interesting.

Today it reached the point where I'm happy with the contrast & the rendering & colours & balance. It looks a bit dodgy in the photo but the canvas looks good. Theres my DIY sketchbook again on the left.

Here's the face. Many layers have been applied.

This lovely item is made entirely from old Primark bags (apart from the thread & glue of course). It has 8 signatures of 16 pages, that makes 128 (including front and back cover). Each one is sewn together & then sewn (and glued because I got a bit lazy with the sewing) to the others. I used the handles off the bags to wrap around the spine to create a stronger bind & a semi-hardback effect. This took ages, probably about 4/5 hours total but I'm pretty happy with it. Brown paper is good.

Haven't draw anything with antlers for a while so I thought I'd get back to that. Thick outline plus outer highlight = POP.

September 3rd 2010: Harpie Girl

Beware the breasts. They will tempt you. Ha.

I like this highlight situation around the main image.

I'm also pretty pleased with the font for something I made up.

September 2nd 2010: Lennox Lewis

This looks better on paper, the scanners stolen some of my contrast in the skin. Lennox Lewis beating on someone. Must use coloured pencils more, should probably get some good ones though.
