February 20th 2010: Golddigger
So I did my usual birthday search, turns out it was Ansel Adams today. So I thought i'd see if he took any self portraits I could work from or something. Typed it in. This guy came up. Clearly not him. But I found him amusing. He looks like an old timey prospecter. Anyway.

February 19th 2010: Abandon Ship
Aiden told me he was doing a project about giant squid monster things. It sounded interesting. I drew antlers on it at first, but decided that it somewhat ruined the effect, i'm not saying that squids are exempt from the antler rule, they aren't, it's just that in this case it was not appropriate.

February 15th 2010: Enter King Seabear
I'm not sure about the fighting fish, I don't think I drew it very well. I like the tree though, also, EVERYBODY SHOULD HAVE ANTLERS. They are the best. Don't know why. Mad props to EddyMac as I completely ripped off his swirly pattern thing. Braaap. A4 inspires me to go better as opposed to A5 which was sketchy, fewer dodgy drawings for the win.
And more antlers please.

Stop Motion Tape Pen Phone Fingers Back & Forth
Messing about with stop motion. Good times. Learnt how to do batch actions in photoshop so you can easily edit a series of photos at once. Useful stuff. I felt like putting it in reverse at the end because it looks silly. yay.

February 7th 2010: Super Bowl
I tried to watch the super bowl... I decided that drawing an american footballer is more interesting than watching the game.

Storyboarding
Okay, so I've finished my storyboarding for my animation. The total is 78 individual drawn frames with annotations, that doesnt include the ones that I already did for the title screen which I think was another 12. So I guess the total is about 90 for a movie that will last about a minute in total. It took a long time. I will not be posting them up here because they are on A3 and my scanner is only A4 and also nobody will care enough to look at them. Good work team.

Title text animation
So heres the opening title text to my animation. All of "the prisonhouse of nations" text is hand animated (drawn) over 54 frames and then dropped into flash. That took forever. about 13 hours in total. The rest is done in flash using movie clip objects and filters. I think this works pretty well as a starting intro to my animation as it sets the tone and gives the viewer a little information about the movie.

Flash Lesson 2
In lesson two it got a little bit more complex. It involved creating a basic motion tween on a movie clip. Then entering the movie clip, importing movie clip objects given to us in illustrator and creating a repeating animation within the original movie clip by moving each individual componant on the spot. We learnt about onion skinning which shows the surrounding frames so that you can move them slightly, as an illustrative animator would do.
I then created my own movie clip sections in illustrator to create my own character and animated him in the same way.

Flash Buttons
So my video wont save to a quicktime format so I can't post it but I need to evaluate it. Basically we learnt how to make a very simple "website" format using flash, using actionscript and buttons to navigate between the pages. It's really easy, you just convert things to buttons and then add over and hit frames within them and then use actionscipt to link them to the other frames.
