I might just be being really self indulgent with this series & every may hate it, I don't know. But I love it. I like the concept as well as the figures I'm using & the style I've devised here. I think the box cropping the image into the face is really working to centre on the expression. I'm also enjoying the simplicity of the faces juxtaposed with the scribbled shading of the hair & darkness of the eyes. But mainly I'm enjoying the fact that I've learnt to draw faces without tracing.

October 15th 2010: Big Lips Marker Guy
So Eddy Mac said he'd hook me up a spot on a Moon Street night because he does DJing for them. Its a live art night which mainly involves marker draws. I was a little unsure so I thought I'd have a go, I've never been too good with markers. There is other stuff drawn on this page as you can see around the edge, but this guy is the only goodish bit. Need some practise.

October 13th 2010: Love Is All In The Eyes
In this case I was going for 'Wide in Fear'.
Thats supposed to be a ball gag, I wish I'd gone for colour pencil rather than the pen, then I could of given it a more subtle blend & made it look spherical rather than the solid block colour.

Enormous Gun
So this goes with The Great Red Shark from the other day.
Hunter S Thompson was a huge gun fanatic so basically, the concept follows from before, extending ideas from his writing, i.e. exaggeration & extension, hence the enormous gun. Would have a normal sized handle & trigger so it could be fired.
Inscription that will be engraved down the barrel. My favourite quote from his work & quite fitting I feel. He lived his life by this ethos. I like to draw curly letters.
Bits down the side, the first shows a close up of the handle with the inscription 'HST 1937 - 2005'. The second square shows an idea for the shells, moulded into gonzo fists with different quotes on them. Also here you can see the difference in size between the handle & the rest of the gun.

October 12th 2010: The Boxer
You took it all gracefully on the chin, knowing that the beatings had to someday end, you found the bandages inside the pen, and the stitches on the radio. There was something heavy holding you down, and there were whispers that were driving you crazy, and now you haunt the heart of this town, but I remember when I knew a boxer, baby.
I've had that song for about 3 weeks now and it's already number 4 on my most played list.
